Atlantia Fall Crown Tournament 2026 Announcement:
Unto the populace of the glorious Kingdom of Atlantia do Ragnarr and Jân, Prince and Princess, send heartfelt greetings.
As the day of Our Coronation fast approaches, We turn Our thoughts to the need that will be created when We become King and Queen. The need for Heirs, to insure the continuity of reigns and the line of succession. To that end, We will be holding a grand armored combat tournament on November 7th in the Barony of Tir-y-don. Any authorized fighters who wish to enter the tournament with their chosen consort must submit a letter by Wednesday October 28th.
These letters should be sent via email to the Crown (TRM@atlantia.sca.org), the Royal Highnesses (TRH@atlantia.sca.org) and to the Kingdom Seneschal (seneschal@officer.atlantia.sca.org) and must include: the full, modern and SCA names of both fighter and consort, SCA membership numbers and expiration for both, physical mailing addresses, email addresses and phone numbers for both. Please include what heraldry is being carried by the fighter for the shield tree (personal, consort, household, baronial, other) If letters are received early, we will respond quickly; all responses to letters of intent will be sent by Monday, November 2nd.
After signing in with the Minister of the List, all fighters and their Consorts will then present themselves to the Crown in a Grand Procession.
This procession will be organized by martial precedence. We ask that each couple who is entering into the Crown list bring something to donate to the Princess dowry.
The format for Fall Crown Tournament will be as follows:
If there are sixteen (16) or less combatants, the tournament will be a simple double elimination tournament. This tournament will be seeded by martial precedence and the lower half of the list will challenge up to someone in the upper half of the list starting with the combatant with the lowest martial precedence and continuing until all of the pairings are set.
If there are twenty-four (24) or more combatants the tournament will consist of four (4) preliminary lists followed by a double elimination tournament limited to sixteen (16) combatants.
If there are between seventeen (17) and twenty-three (23) fighters, the decision will be made the day of the tournament at the Crowns’ discretion.
The four preliminary lists, if they are held, will be balanced to be an equal number of fighters and fought in a round robin format (each fighter in the list will fight every other fighter in the list).
The list for this round will be seeded by Armored Martial Precedence by their own hand (Martial Precedence is as follows: Duke/Duchess by their own hand, Count/Countess by their own hand, Chivalry, Kraken, Silver Osprey.) to spread fighters of all experience around each list (no list should be overly weighted with members of the Chivalry or Royal Peers). Double kills will be refought.
At the conclusion of each preliminary round list, the total number of wins for each fighter will be tallied and the top four (4) finishers from each list will advance to the Tournament of 16. Ties will only be broken if necessary to determine the four best records.
Once each of the four (4) preliminary lists has concluded, the top four (4) scorers from each list will be placed into a “Sweet 16” Double Elimination tournament. The Minister of the Lists will place the fighters in a tree seeded from 1 to 16 according to their win/loss record from the preliminary pools on the day. Any tying win/loss records will be seeded in Order of Precedence through armored martial prowess by their own hand. (Armored MARTIAL award as follows in this order: Duke/Duchess by their own hand, Count/Countess by their own hand, Chivalry, Kraken, Silver Osprey)
In the semifinals, the fighter carrying a loss, must defeat the undefeated fighter twice to advance to the finals.
The finals will be fought best two out of three fights. The fighter with lower martial precedence shall pick the weapons choice for the first round. The fighter with the higher martial precedence shall pick the weapons form for the second round. In the first two rounds, fighters must match weapons forms. If the finals goes to a third round, each fighter may bring the weapons form of their choosing and they do not have to match. Weapons forms may be repeated.
