A true King and Queen must make plans to secure an orderly succession such that Atlantia may prosper long after we are gone. To that end, we would ask that all those who would follow us on the Thrones of Atlantia submit letters of intent by April 21, 2025.
Your letters should be sent via email to the Crown and to the Kingdom Seneschal and must include: the full modern and SCA names of both fighter and consort, SCA membership numbers and expiration for both, mailing addresses, email addresses and phone numbers for both. If letters are received early, we will respond quickly; all responses to letters of intent will be sent by April 23rd.
Spring Crown Tournament will consist of four (4) preliminary lists followed by a double elimination tournament limited to sixteen (16) combatants.
After signing in with the Minister of the List, all fighters and their Consorts will then present themselves to the Crown in a Grand Procession. Fighters should prepare a short statement in praise of their consort.
The four preliminary lists will be balanced to be an equal number of fighters and fought in a round robin format (each fighter in the list will fight every other fighter in the list). The list for this round will be fairly seeded by Order of Martial Precedence to spread fighters of all experience around each list (no list should be overly weighted with members of the Chivalry or Royal Peers). Double kills will be refought. At the conclusion of each list, the total number of wins for each fighter will be tallied and the top four (4) finishers will advance to the Tournament of 16. Ties will only be broken if necessary to determine the four best records.
NOTE: The preliminary round should be fought quickly, and combatants should be armored and prepared to fight; multiple fights will be conducted at the same time as field space allows. Fighters will be called to the list only twice before a forfeit is declared in the preliminary list.
Once each of the four (4) preliminary lists has concluded, and the sixteen (16) fighters with the best records determined, the Minister of the Lists will place the fighters in a double elimination tree seeded from 1 to 16 according to the precedence of the date of highest MARTIAL award as follows in this order: Duke/Duchess by their own hand, Count/Countess by their own hand, knight or master of defense, grant level, AOA level, etc.
In the semifinals, the fighter carrying a loss, must defeat the undefeated fighter twice to advance to the finals.
The finals will be fought best two of three. In the first fight, the junior fighter will pick the weapon form, and the senior will match. In the second round, the senior will select the weapon form, and the junior will match. If a third round is required, the fighters need not match each other’s weapons form.
